We teach all we can to love & respect the water. We focus on safety throughout the classes; teaching swimmers the most efficient way to move through water.

START Swimming Curriculum

Our curriculum consists of 5 teaching levels, designed to build upon the prior level. 

  • Level 1 (beginner): No experience, may have fear. Emphasis is on safety, gaining basic aquatic skills
  • Level 2 (beginner): May be able to swim a short distance, needs help breathing. Emphasis on safety, learning how to roll to breath and getting comfortable with front and back floating.
  • Level 3 (advanced beginner): Can swim and breath independently, needs proper technique and intro to other strokes. Emphasis placed on safety, rhythmic breathing and swimming efficiently. Strokes include freestyle backstroke, butterfly and elementary backstroke.
  • Level 4 (intermediate): swimmer does front crawl and backstroke well, but still working on other 3 racing strokes. In this level the swimmer will learn all turns, starts and DQ rules to be ready for team. Group class recommended.
  • Level 5 (advanced): Swimmer has good technique in 3 of the 4 strokes. In this level the swimmer will learn all racing strokes, turns and DQ rules to be ready for team
